Addis Ababa to Hawassa is about 275 km by road and takes around 4½ hours in a private car, on a fully paved highway via Mojo, Ziway and Shashemene. It is one of the busiest and safest intercity routes in Ethiopia. Buses take 5 to 7 hours.
